Description:
The goal of a yoga practice is to heal, balance and awaken. How does one learn about and choose from the many styles of yoga practiced in the West today? We will discuss yoga styles including anusana, Iyengar, integral, kundalini, Kripalu, viniyoga, Bikram, yin and the many variations of power or flow yoga. In addition, we will practice a few easy poses so you can have a personal experience of the styles that incorporate that particular asana (pose) or pranayama (breathing) technique. A brief discussion of the eight limbs of yoga and selecting a teacher will be included.
Course Notes: Note: This seminar is being held at Bastyr’s Kenmore campus, room 184. We will do only a few easy poses – wear comfortable clothing. You may bring a mat and cushion or blanket if you like.
